Chef Dale Carty of Tasty’s Restaurant on Anguilla

Recently we had an amazing culinary experience at Tasty’s Restaurant in Anguilla. For those not familiar with Tasty’s Restaurant, it was started

by Chef Dale Carty in March 1999 as a café that served only breakfast and lunch. It soon became a full service restaurant offering fresh, innovative cuisine and immediately earned him rave reviews. Tasty’s is designed with vibrant Caribbean colors, hand painted tropical murals, and beautiful Anguillan photo art. The restaurant is refreshing, breezy, and impeccably clean.

Dale furthered his culinary studies in France, has been featured in Bon Appetit, Gourmet, and Food and Wine magazines and has won several awards including Caribbean Hotel Association award, the Taste of the Caribbean Award for the “Most Innovative Caribbean Menu” held in Miami, Florida, and the Entrepreneur of the Year Award from Anguilla’s Chamber of Commerce.

Tasty’s Goat Cheese Salad

Chef Carty is famous for his “Tasty’s Seafood Salad – The Chef’s Favorite”. We started off our dinner with this incredibly fresh and delicious
salad – full of sautéed crayfish, snapper, lobster, shrimp, conch, and salmon. The salad is drizzled with Tasty’s basil vinaigrette dressing.
It was “to die for”. Next, we had the “Warm Goat Cheese Salad with Roasted Marinated Red Peppers and Red Onions”. The special salad of the day was a “Spinach and Goat Cheese Salad with a Bacon Vinaigrette”. Both were outstanding. Tasty’s also offers a Tapas Menu. We sampled the
“Mushrooms Stuffed with Pumpkin, Turkey Bacon & Plantain Topped with Mozzarella”. Next, we ordered the “Conch Fritters Served with a Spicy Banana Rum Sauce”. Rounding out our Tapas Menu sampling was the “Boneless Spicy Ribs with a Papaya Cole Slaw”. All were absolutely delicious. From the dinner menu, we split “The Chef’s Seafood Pasta” loaded with sautéed crayfish, snapper, lobster, shrimp, conch, and salmon and flavored with Chef Carty’s “secret herbs” and delicious cream sauce.

Overall, we had a wonderful evening. The food was fresh and beautifully presented. Chef Carty repeatedly checked on his guests and chatted with
them about their stay on Anguilla. Almost all of the tables were full and the diners looked like they were all having a great time. Tasty’s is a
wonderful restaurant and is a great value. Chef Carty’s cuisine is top notch and rivals all of the other well-known restaurants on the island.
